Suction gasket
Suction gasket for 4D sander
The Suction gasket in the handle of a 4D single-brush sander is an essential component that seals the connection between the handle and the dust extraction hose. It is designed to prevent dust particles and debris generated during sanding or polishing from entering the handle and damaging the sander's internal components.
The main function of the suction seal is to create a hermetic connection between the handle and the suction hose. This effectively channels dust and debris into the sander's vacuum system, helping to keep the working environment cleaner and reduce the dispersion of particles in the air.
When it's time to change the vacuum seal depends on how worn it is and how effective it is in fulfilling its function.
Here are some signs that it may be time to replace it:
1. Dust leaks: if you notice dust particles or debris escaping from the sander's handle during use, despite the vacuum being switched on, this may indicate a problem with the vacuum seal.
2. Visible wear: if you notice obvious signs of wear, deformation, cracks or physical damage to the suction seal, it's time to change it. A worn seal will not provide an effective seal.
3. Poor fit: if the suction hose doesn't fit properly on the sander handle, or if the joint doesn't fit properly, this may be caused by a damaged or worn suction joint.
It's important to replace the suction joint as soon as you notice signs of deterioration or inefficiency, to maintain good dust extraction and ensure a cleaner, safer working environment. If you're not sure about the condition of the suction seal or how to replace it, we recommend that you consult your sander's user manual, or contact a qualified Repex Floor service technician.
