Tension roller

Tension roller  for Ouragan heavy-duty sander.

The Tension roller complete is an essential part of the drive belt tension mechanism on the Ouragan heavy-duty sander.

It performs several important functions:

1.  Belt tension:  The tensioner maintains the correct tension on the sander's drive belt. Correct tension is crucial to the smooth operation of the sander and to prevent belt slippage.

2.  Power transmission:  It helps to efficiently transmit power from the motor to the sander pulley or drum, allowing the sanding paper to rotate at the correct speed for sanding.

3.  Wear reduction:  The tension roller reduces premature belt wear by minimising excessive friction and holding the belt in place.

As for the wear points on the aluminium idler, here's what you should look out for:

1.  Contact surface wear:  The surface of the tensioner that comes into contact with the belt may wear over time due to friction. You should inspect this surface regularly for signs of excessive wear, cracks or deformation.

2.  Physical damage: Physical damage, such as dents, cracks or deformation, can affect the proper operation of the tensioner. If such damage is found, it is generally recommended that the part be replaced.

3.  Unusual noises:  If you hear grinding or rattling noises coming from the idler area, this may indicate a problem. This could be due to excessive wear or misalignment.

When it's time to replace the idler depends on a number of factors, including how often you use your sander, how much sanding you do and the quality of the original part.

As a general rule, you should consider replacing the tensioner if it shows signs of significant wear, if it is damaged or if it fails to maintain belt tension correctly.

It is recommended that you follow the sander's instructions, as there may be specifications specific to your model of Ouragan sander. In addition, regular maintenance of your sander, including inspection of the tension roller, will help to prolong the life of the machine and maintain its optimum performance.
