The wheel train cap on the clutch is an important part of the clutch mechanism on a heavy-duty Ouragan sander or any other sander equipped with a similar clutch. Its role is to transmit the movement of the control rod to the clutch itself, allowing the sander's clutch to be engaged or disengaged.
Function
Its main functions are as follows:
1. Transmission of movement: The wheel train clevis converts the linear movement of the control rod into a rotary movement that activates the clutch. This allows the rotation of the sanding plate or sanding belt to be started or stopped depending on the action of the control trigger.
2. Synchronisation: It ensures precise synchronisation between the control rod and the clutch, guaranteeing smooth clutch engagement and safe operation of the sander.
Replacement
Wear points on the wheel hub can be caused by several factors, including natural wear and tear from using the sander and the quality of the materials used in its manufacture. Here are some common signs of wheel train cap wear:
1. Excessive play: If you notice excessive play or lateral movement in the wheel train cap, this may indicate wear. Excessive play can lead to a loss of precision in the operation of the clutch.
2. Difficulty activating or deactivating the clutch: If the sander becomes difficult to activate or deactivate, this may be a sign that the wheel hub cover is worn.
3. Abnormal noises: Unusual grinding or clicking noises when the clutch is engaged may indicate a problem with the wheel hub.
The timing of when to replace the wheel hub depends on the extent of wear and the intensity of use of the sander.
